Tune the workload, not just the instance
Scaling instance size may hide symptoms temporarily. The strongest gains usually come from execution plan review, index strategy, bloat control and better connection behaviour.
Operational posture matters
Autovacuum health, replica lag, parameter groups, monitoring and failover behaviour can make the difference between a stable system and repeated incidents.
Measure before and after
Use baselines, query timings, wait symptoms and business impact to prove whether a change worked. Avoid tuning by guesswork.
